As a result of that meeting the CPS have provided Independence First with a strong message of support. In a letter from the CPS national Secretary, Eric Canning, he writes:

"Thank you for attending our National Council meeting... we found ourselves in complete agreement with your aims and greatly heartened to know that so many in Scotland are coming forward to support and work for the principle of Scottish Independence."

"We, therefore give our full support to the aims of Independence First - as we do to the Independence Convention - and are prepared to participate and help in any way we can."

Joe Middleton commented "John and I were both very impressed by the CPS's strong support for the Scottish independence cause. Independence First welcomes their support and we look forward to working together in the future."
